Kanu Barista Elevates Capsule Coffee with Innovative Blends and Experiences
Kanu Barista, launched in February, brings a fresh take on capsule coffee, leveraging Dongsuh Foods’ 50 years of coffee expertise. Each capsule holds 9.5 grams of ground coffee—1.7 times more than previous designs—and is available in 13 varieties, including light, medium, dark roasts, decaf, and single-origin options.
Recent additions, Kanu Eternal Mountain and Kanu Serenity Moon Decaffeinated, highlight unique flavour profiles. The former features rich, chocolatey notes from heavily roasted beans, while the latter offers a green apple-like acidity derived from Colombian beans.
Three single-origin capsules, unveiled in November 2023, showcase beans from Ethiopia, Colombia, and Indonesia, with eye-catching packaging illustrations reflecting each region.
The Kanu Barista machines—Urban, Breeze, and Pebble—complement the capsules with innovative features. These include Triangle Tamping for even extraction, a “golden essence” coffee-to-water ratio, and Dual Nozzle Bypass Technology for enhanced Americano quality. The Urban model’s sleek design even earned a Red Dot Design Award, merging functionality with aesthetics.
Dongsuh has brought the Kanu experience to life through pop-ups like the Grand Kanu Hotel, a luxurious coffee-themed staycation setup, and the Kanu Rest Stop Station, a unique installation in Seoul’s Jayang Metro Station. These events invited visitors to unwind with premium coffee while engaging in creative and interactive activities.
“Kanu Barista aims to connect Korean consumers with their perfect cup of coffee through premium blends and innovative brewing technology,” said a Dongsuh Foods representative.
