$344 Coffee? Scottish Dairy Brews the U.K.'s Priciest Cup with a Twist
LONDON (AP) — A Scottish dairy is stirring up attention with what it claims is the U.K.’s most expensive cup of coffee: a flat white priced at 272 British pounds ($344). But this isn’t just about sipping a fancy brew — it’s about investing in the future of sustainable farming.
The premium flat white, a double shot of espresso with steamed milk and a delicate foam art finish, comes as a perk for buying shares in Mossgiel Organic Dairy’s crowdfunding campaign. The farm aims to expand its eco-conscious dairy operation and increase milk production.
Bryce Cunningham, owner of Mossgiel Organic Dairy, sees the extravagant coffee as an invitation to make a difference. “This coffee costs nearly 80 times the price of an average flat white in the U.K. — but it’s much more than just a lovely drink,” Cunningham said. “We know it sounds crazy, but when you break it down, it’s a pretty good deal. How much is the future of farming worth?” Investors purchasing 34 shares in the farm will receive a certificate redeemable for the luxurious flat white, which can be enjoyed starting this weekend at 13 participating coffee shops across Scotland that use Mossgiel’s milk.
The initiative blends indulgence with purpose, offering coffee lovers a chance to savour a premium cup while supporting sustainable agriculture.
